One to One Consultations
Dietitans are uniquely qualified to help assess your diet and give you the nutrition advice you need to make changes. Whether you want to lose weight, manage irritable bowel syndrome or lower cholesterol, we can help.
How long does an appointment take?
A first session usually takes about 40 minutes and includes a dietary assessment as well as weight and anthropometric measurements. We develop a plan that is individual and based on your specific needs and advise you on how to fit the advice into your day-to-day life. We also focus on changing habits and behaviour – something that is especially important when it comes to losing weight long-term.
A review appointment takes about 20-30 minutes and will help to support you in making changes, ensure that you have understood the advice given and assess what additional help you need. The number of review appointments will depend on your particular issue.
Do I need a referral from my doctor?
You do not need a referral from your doctor to make an appointment but, if you have had any relevant tests, please bring the results with you.
Can I claim fees back from health insurance?
Health insurers will cover part of the fee to see a dietitian who is a member of the INDI (Irish Nutrition and Dietetic Institute). See here for a list of what is covered by the major health insurers in Ireland.
